WAR memorials and the messages they convey is the focus of a moving exhibition in Havant.

Artist Jacky Dillon has put together a display called In Memoriam at The Spring, in East Street.

She explained: ‘The exhibition concentrates our thoughts on the war memorials found in every village, town and city.

‘Images celebrating the diversity of these unique monuments are displayed alongside the personal stories of the lives of just a few of the men and their families torn apart by the war.

‘These are the stories hidden behind the inscriptions.’

The exhibition runs until June 28.

Jacky added: ‘As we reach the centenary of the start of Great War in 1914, it seems appropriate to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made for us and to record the memories of those who have fought for this country in conflicts over the last 100 years.’

Visitors to the museum on Saturday, June 2 will able to record their own stories, which will be uploaded on to a blog.
