STAFF from two energy firms took to the football pitch and battled against each other in a bid to raise cash for Sport Relief.
Workers from Scotia Gas Networks and Scottish & Southern Energy, played each other in a well-attended game at Gosport’s ground in Privett Park.
Over £2,000 was raised from the match, which Scottish & Southern Energy won 4-3.
Simon Butter, of Scotia Gas Network, said: ‘It was good. We had about 60 or 70 people turning up to come and watch us.
‘It was played in good spirits and we raised a lot of money for a good cause. We’re fortunate because we haven’t had difficult lives.
‘For us that are keen on playing sport, it’s good to give back to those less fortunate than ourselves.
‘We were inspired by John Bishop and David Walliams.
‘We thought it would be a good opportunity.’
