THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised by people stripping down to their underwear and sharing their funny pictures on social media.

The #Bantsinyourpants fundraiser was started by star of reality television show Life on Marbs Lina Hodgkins and, since launching a week ago, more than £5,000 has been raised.

Lina, who is originally from Portsmouth but now lives in Marbella, is raising the money for Macmillan Cancer Support as her best friend is battling a rare form of cancer.

Leanne Baldry, who has known Lina for nearly 40 years, is being treated in hospital and has been keeping an eye on the #Bantsinyourpants Facebook page.

She said: ‘I have been overwhelmed with the whole fundraiser.

‘Looking at all the pictures and the number of people who have supported it has made me smile a lot.

‘The patients and nurses think it is a great way for people to build body confidence while raising money for a great cause. It is making me so happy.’

Lina came up with the idea for the fundraiser after she did a lingerie shoot for Life on Marbs, the ITVBe show which follows the lives of Marbella residents.

Having pushed her boundaries to be pictured in just her underwear, Lina wanted to do something fun with the images. She also wanted to get other people to feel just as empowered as she did when she stripped down to her undies.

‘The response from people has been amazing,’ she said.

The support from the city has been amazing and it is great how everyone can come together to support such an great cause.
