BUSINESSES are vying to prove they have the Christmas spirit.

Shops and firms in Lee-on-the-Solent are taking part in Lee Business Association’s Christmas spirit competition.

The winning store picks which charity will receive the prize money.

Judges will decide who wins as the Christmas lights are switched on on Friday, December 5 at 6.30pm.

Debbie Watts, chair of the Lee Business Association said: ‘We have worked closely throughout the year along with the residents’ association to make this event the best ever.

‘Each year businesses in Lee take up the challenge and pool their resources and work together to make this happen with the help of an army of community volunteers.

‘It creates a great family atmosphere and really brings the community together.

‘It’s been amazing to have so many people wanting to help and get involved.’

High Street and Pier Street will be closed to traffic from 4pm until 8pm on the day the lights are switched on.
