Ballet stole the show at the dance section of the Portsmouth Music Festival.

The eight day competition took place at Park Community College with the first acts taking to the stage on February 16.

Many different genres were on display for adjudicator Jill Baldock. These ranged from tap, modern and Greek but, it was the ballet that stunned the audience.

Lucy Glasspool, pictured, was one of the dancers who wowed the audience with her elegance.

She came first in the class 901 ballet under five years at Chichester Festival for Music, Dance and Speech on the third day of the dance competition.

A Portsmouth Music Festival spokesperson said: ‘The dance section is tremendously supported and the audience is always fantastic.

‘We had more than 1,000 contestants which brings in big audiences full of family and friends.

‘It is a great part of the festival and shows what the dance schools in Portsmouth have to offer. The contestants were of the highest standards as normal.’

The last of the brass section is taking place this weekend.
