A pepper pot not to be sneezed at
WANT some pepper with that, sir?
Giuseppe Mascia, owner of Pizza House restaurant in London Road, Hilsea, celebrated his 58th birthday with family and friends – and was delighted to receive the largest pepper pot in the country as a gift.
The 3.6ft dispenser – costing 349 – was bought by relatives after his previous huge pepper mill was stolen from the restaurant on January 17.
He said: 'It's wonderful to open a present like this. At first I thought it was the old pot returned but it's so lovely for my family and friends to have gone to so much trouble to bring a new one across. It's a very emotional moment for me.'
The original pot had been bought for Giuseppe's 40th birthday by his brother.
It became a famous feature at Pizza House, but on a busy Saturday night someone walked out with it.
Giuseppe's son Christian, general manager of The Pizza House, said: 'It's brilliant to have got this and given it to dad on his birthday. It's the only one in the country.'
