A whole new ball game

Life really is a ball for these energetic boys.

They have been letting off steam by taking part in fast-paced games at a community venue in Emsworth.

The boys have gone 'back to basics' to take part in games such as dodgeball, where players run around to avoid being hit by a ball.

'They love it,' said Sam Warren, chaplain of Emsworth Boys Brigade, which only started up in January but has already attracted 25 members.

'It's just really good fun. It's going back to basics.

'We all have fond memories of games we used to play as kids and a lot of them have been abandoned in schools now.

'It allows boys to be boys really - and to make a mess which they could not necessarily do at home.

'It gives them a sense of identity too.'

The games for five to 11-year-olds take place at the New Life Christian Church in Thorney Road, Emsworth.

Youngsters pay 1 a week to attend the group on Monday nights from 6.30pm.
