Advice to Hampshire parents on holiday dilemmas

A charity is advising parents about allowing their children to holiday on their own.

The Hampshire-based parent support charity Parentline Plus offers support to parents whose children might want to holiday with friends or a partner instead of with their family.

Parentline Plus operates a free, confidential 24-hour line which offers parent to parent support and gives advice about the dangers of alcohol, drugs and the risk of holidays romances and unprotected sex.

Leanne Hubbard, area manager for Parentline Plus in Hampshire, said: 'It's certainly not easy making such a decision and it can bring real mixed emotions, given that your son or daughter wants to break away from you but you want them to be safe.

'We at Parentline Plus are always here to offer free and confidential parent to parent support 24/7. We have put together some useful pointers to think about before having this discussion with your teenager.'

To contact Parentline Plus, please call 0808 800 2222 or visit parentlineplus.org.uk for more advice, hints and tips.
