Ale drinkers get ready to quaff for good cause

A CHARITY beer festival is hoping to raise thousands for charity.

The fifth Wickham Charity Beer Festival will feature more than 30 real ales and ciders from across Hampshire and neighbouring counties.

The twice-annual event raised 5,300 for local charities at its April festival.

Charities set to benefit this time are Meon Valley Home Start, 1st Wickham Scouts, Wickham First Responders, the Wickham Community Association and Pancreatic Cancer UK.

There will be two sessions at the Wickham Centre on Mill Lane in Wickham on Saturday, September 11, from 11am to 4.30pm and 6pm to 11pm.

Families are welcome to the early session, but the evening is over-18s only.

Tickets cost 5 per session in advance, 6.00 on the door or 8 for an all day ticket. The price includes a glass and programme.

Food is available all day but in the evening there will be a barbecue run by the Meon Valley Lions as well as live music from Reavers Rant and the Pete Harris Blues Band.
