Amnesty offered at libraries

A LIBRARY amnesty is being held so that people can return overdue books with no questions or fines.

Anyone who has an overdue item will be able to start again with a clear card, from February 27 to March 6.

The scheme is part of a new 'Love Your Library' campaign run by Portsmouth library services.

To kick-start the campaign the Bookstart Bear will be joining new members out in shopping areas across the city throughout half term week.

Everyone who joins Portsmouth Central Library between February 13 and March 6 will receive a voucher for a free film or music loan.

Councillor Lee Hunt, head of culture and leisure for Portsmouth City Council, said: 'Whether you go to a library to read or borrow a book, to browse the internet or to study and learn, there is something for everyone that is either completely free or doesn't cost very much money.

'And if you have an item that is overdue now is the perfect time to start over with a clear card.'
