Anti-gold theft campaign

HAMPSHIRE Constabulary is backing a campaign highlighting Asian gold burglaries.

With gold jewellery often purchased to celebrate special occasions such as weddings and birthdays, and cultural events like Diwali and Eid, it can become a target for burglaries.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren O’Callaghan said: ‘Where we do have Asian communities our officers are engaging with residents to ensure their valuables are being properly protected, ensuring they are not giving opportunist burglars reason to target them.’
