Bid to keep Portsmouth safe with Facebook

FACEBOOK is the latest tool in the fight to keep Portsmouth safe.

The Safer Portsmouth Partnership has launched a page on the social networking site to reach new people and communities.

They are targeting those who might not usually visit police, council, NHS, fire service, probation or voluntary sector web sites.

And with over 105,000 Facebook members and groups registered as living in Portsmouth, they have decided the internet is the perfect way to spread information.

Hampshire Constabulary and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service already have Facebook accounts - but this one will concentrate on Portsmouth only and will cover the work of all the key agencies.

The new Facebook page will give information about Safer Portsmouth's current campaigns, including Save Dave at the World Cup, their Domestic Abuse World Cup campaign, Party by the Beach - a free teens music event in July - and will provide regular safer neighbourhood newsletters online.
