FIRE managed to rip through a house without anyone noticing – and burst water pipes put it out.
The bizarre blaze is thought to have taken place within the past two days while the owners of the property, in Blackbrook Park Avenue, Fareham, were away.
A neighbour who went to check on the house yesterday discovered it was full of soot and water was gushing out from pipes.
Firefighters from Fareham were called but, although there was a lot of damage, there was no blaze to put out.
Bob Bateson, from white watch, said: ‘It was quite a significant fire but when we went in it was cold, it was burnt out. The whole house was covered in soot.
‘The fire started in the kitchen and burnt through some water pipes.’
It is not being treated as suspicious.
