Bomb scare at Hayling Island

A navy bomb disposal team has gone to Hayling Island following reports of a bomb scare.

Experts from the Southern Diving Unit 2 based at Horsea Island responded to emergency calls just after 9.30am today.

Initial reports indicate that three piece of ordnance were found close to Creek Road in Hayling Island by a member of the public.

Portsmouth Naval Base spokesman Simon Smith said: 'The diving team are on their way to assess what is at the scene.'
