A HEARTLESS burglar has stolen Christmas presents from an elderly woman.

It happened at the 87-year-old woman’s home in Jellicoe Avenue, Alverstoke, Gosport, between 11.30pm on Saturday and 11am yesterday.

The burglar made off with her handbag, a red knitted scarf with gold butterflies, a green knitted scarf with butterfly patterns and boxes of sweets.

All of the items were wrapped up for Christmas.

PC Barry Martin, of Fareham and Gosport Priority Crime Team, said: ‘This was a heartless crime against an elderly, vulnerable victim, who has now had all the Christmas presents she bought for loved ones stolen.

‘If you saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area on the day, or days leading up to the crime please contact me.’

Police at Hampshire constabulary are advising people to make sure their homes are locked and report any suspicious behaviour.

Call PC Martin on 101 and quote reference 44130479128.
