A FIRE broke out on the embankment near Portsmouth Harbour railway station.
The incident at 2pm yesterday was caused by a cable.
Southsea firefighters were sent out to inspect the situation and a Network Rail engineer then went to make repairs.
There was no impact on rail journeys.
A spokeswoman for Network Rail said: ‘We had reports of a fire on the embankment near Portsmouth Harbour station at 2pm.
‘This turned out to be a small cable fire.
‘There has been no impact on rail services and no danger to the public.’
