Campaign is helping to improve flood areas

A CAMPAIGN to help tackle problems caused by flooding is under way.

West Sussex County Council is pumping £8.25m into its Operation Watershed initiative.

Cash will be spent on areas of West Sussex to help improve drainage and tighten up defences at flood hotspots, including some in Chichester and Bosham.

Pieter Montyn, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: ‘The county council moved quickly to help the communities worst affected by the flooding.

‘Twelve locations in West Sussex have received, or are about to receive, significant drainage improvements.

‘This includes works such as reshaping roads, clearing out ditches, installing new pipes and repairing sea outfalls.’
