CAN you take a winning wildlife picture?
That’s the challenge being set by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, which has launched its annual wildlife photography competition.
Entry is free and there is a £150 prize for the overall winner.
The winners from each of the 12 categories will see their picture featured in the Wildlife Trust’s 2014 Wildlife Calendar.
Stephanie Watson, who organises the competition, said: ‘This competition is all about showing off the fabulous wildlife and landscapes of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We can’t wait to see what images people enter.
‘This year we have a new category for more artistic shots and that one is going to be particularly interesting to keep an eye on.’
In this year’s competition there are several new categories, including reptiles and amphibians and separate categories for Hampshire and Isle of Wight landscapes to celebrate the wild spaces of each area.
Other categories include mammals, birds, plant, fungi, marine and coastal, and wildlife gardening.
One category is called unexpected sights and should be a picture of wildlife behaving in an unusual way.
