Chichester hospital's a winner

A West Sussex hospital has won a number of prizes at an annual awards show.

Staff at the Nuffield Health Chichester Hospital attended the event in the Midlands on June 18 and walked away with four awards.

The hospital was the winner of the most improved hospital award for demonstrating significant improvements in infection prevention.

The hospital was also announced as infection prevention link practitioner of the year and won a bronze award in excellence in infection prevention practice.

Senior nurse Sharon Reed won the individual prize for best infection prevention lead nurse.

The infection prevention team works against the daily risks of infection and have specially trained staff in every key clinical area.

In 2008 the hospital had no cases of MRSA or Clostridium Difficile and less than a 0.5 per cent incidence of all other infections.
