Clean-up for sick bug liner
A CRUISE ship where nearly 300 passengers fell ill with a vomiting bug, has undergone a thorough cleaning.
As reported in The News on Saturday, the passengers on the Boudicca cruise ship, part of the Fred Olsen fleet, contracted sickness and diarrhoea on a 12-day trip to the Canary Islands.
There were 1,152 people on board the ship which stopped at Madeira, La Gomera, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, and Lisbon before it arrived in Portsmouth to pick up more passengers on Friday.
A spokeswoman for the firm said only 20 were still ill when it docked at Portsmouth Ferry Port.
Speaking before the ship sailed again later on Friday on a four-night mini-cruise to Amsterdam, she said: 'In accordance with guidelines set down by the Health Protection Agency, staff throughout Boudicca have stepped up their already fastidious hygiene and disinfecting regime.
'Prior to the ship embarking on her next cruise, a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the vessel will be undertaken.'
