Michael Coleman took the £1,400 bike from the drop-in centre in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth, on January 3.

Coleman, of Estella Road, Buckland, pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

At the time of the offence he was the subject of a community order for another crime, a previous assault on a man.

The 20-year-old was told by magistrates to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He was also give a one-month prison sentence, suspended for a year.
