Company looks to the future with its talent for invention
THINK big – that is the message going out to companies creating gadgets and gizmos for the Ministry of Defence.
One such company is Mindsheet, based at Langstone Technology park, Havant, which scooped 28,000 from a 2m MoD kitty to develop planes, vehicles and weapons for the future.
These include unconventional flying machines that could land quickly on the flight deck of the navy's ships.
The company will use the cash for a month-long project to make an unmanned Ground Vehicle robot, Testudo, more rugged and user-friendly.
The Defence Technology Plan is the first time the MOD has revealed its long-term research plans.
Minister for Defence Equipment and Support Quentin Davies, said: 'We are looking to embrace and encourage novel, cutting-edge ideas. It is more vital than ever that we exploit new and emerging technologies.'
Mindsheet unveiled its robot at the MOD's Grand Challenge last year.
