Cookers pose death threat from carbon monoxide
People are being warned about a poisonous gas that could be coming from their cooker.
A number of Leisure, Flavel, New World and Belling cookers produce potentially deadly levels of carbon monoxide if the grill door is not left open during use.
Nearly 40,000 of these appliances have been tracked down and modified.
But more than 25,000 still need an urgent alteration.
Hampshire County Council's Trading Standards Service is urging people to check the make and model of their cooker. If their appliance is among those at risk, it can easily be made safe by a professional engineer.
People should check the data plate at the bottom front edge of their cooker.
The affected Belling models are serial G755MkII in white or anthracite, GT755 in white, and Country Chef 100G in silver or anthracite.
The affected New World models are serial 50 TWLM SV LPG, 50 WLM WH LPG, 50 WLM SV LPG, and 50 TWLM WH LPG.
The Leisure brand cookers are AL6NDW, CM10NRK, CM10NRC, CM101NRCP, and CM101NRKP. The Flavel serial numbers are AP5LDW, DCGAP5LS, and ML5NDS.
