Malcolm Hey held on to his Copnor seat after a campaign dominated by the issue of the future of the local fire station.

In a recent by-election in another Copnor seat the Lib Dems had surprisingly won, after fielding an ex-firefighter as their candidate.

Cllr Hey said: 'I am absolutely jubilant. I was worried, but I'm grateful to the residents. I want to improve the range of recycling and provide more facilities for young people.'
