Cosham set for a boost

COSHAM High Street is in line for a £200,000 council grant to boost shopping in the area.

Businesses will have the opportunity to see where the cash goes, which is part of Portsmouth City Council’s new capital schemes.

Cosham trader Tony Broome, owner of Shoefix, said he was delighted by the opportunity.

He said: ‘It’s just the news we have been looking for. I personally would like to see the pavements improved but everyone has got differing opinions.’

Cllr Donna Jones, deputy Conservative group leader at Portsmouth City Council, said: ‘Cosham needs some cash injection.

‘The £200,000 is good but not enough, it should be more like £400,000.

‘We should be putting money into Cosham and small businesses the same as we have been helping The Pyramids.’
