Dad's epic marathon feat in son's memory
A man is to run three marathons in three days in memory of his stillborn son.
Gavin Dutton will run from Goodwood to Cranleigh tomorrow, from Dorking to London on Saturday and then take part in the London Marathon on Sunday.
He will be raising awareness of stillbirth and raise 10,000 for Sands, the stillbirth and neo-natal death charity. He will run in memory of his son Luke, who died in June 2009.
'Running three marathons in three days will be tough,' Gavin said, 'but when we lost Luke we pledged as a family we would take on some big challenges for our treasured son, to ensure we hold ourselves true to how he would have lived and the difference he would have made to the world.
'Seventeen babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day in the UK. Through the Sands Why17? campaign we hope to highlight how many families are affected.'
Lifelong Star Wars fan Gavin, who works for West Sussex County Council, will run the London Marathon dressed as Darth Vader.
