Dancing in grand final

Dancers from Fareham, Southsea, Portchester, and Petersfield have made it through to a competition final after helping to raise cash for charity.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight heats of the Red Cross's Dance for Life 2009 culminates in a grand final in Winchester.

Dance groups taking part include juniors from Wicor Primary School (Fareham), and seniors from The Petersfield School; Victory Land (Southsea) and D2 Dance Company (Portchester). Since 2006, more than 4,000 young people have joined in the event, raising 64,000

Laura Deacon, Dance for Life project manager, said: 'The British Red Cross is committed to exploring what humanitarian values mean in today's world and through Dance for Life we are able to actively engage children and teenagers in this process.'

The event will help raise money for vulnerable people locally and overseas.
