Deadline for by-election candidates
CANDIDATES must get their nomination forms for the Portchester East by-election into Fareham Borough Council by next Friday.
The by-election, which was triggered by the resignation of Chris Brown, will take place on Thursday, March 15.
Mr Brown quit after failing to make any council meetings for six months due to work commitments. He was elected in May 2010.
Mr Brown said that he had not kept the £3,230 he was paid in members’ allowances in that period and put it towards community projects.
Candidate nominations forms must be returned by noon on February 17.
Applications for a postal vote must be received by 5pm on Wednesday, February 29 and applications to vote by proxy must be received by 5pm, on Wednesday, March 7.
Application forms are available at fareham.gov.uk/elections or from the civic offices.
