Delays expected on London bound trains from south Hampshire

TRAIN users across the south east travelling to and from London face disruption due to severe weather conditions.

South West Trains has put a contingency timetable in place, which involves running fewer trains than usual on all routes in and out of London Waterloo.

Trains between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour are currently diverted via Cobham and not calling at Woking.

Icy conditions have caused lengthy delays across the service’s network, as well as affecting other transport operators and airports in the area, South West Trains say.

Trains are being disrupted across the whole network with some trains being delayed by up to an hour and a half.

South West Trains has apologised to passengers and offered a full ticket refund to those affected by today’s disruption.

Jake Kelly, Customer Service Director for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance said: ‘We would like to apologise to our customers for the disruption being experienced across our network today. In common with other transport operators, our services have been badly affected by freezing weather conditions this morning. We believe it’s only right that we offer affected customers full compensation for the delays they have experienced today.

‘The amended timetable we have put in place allows us to provide greater certainty for our customers about the services we are able to run and when. We also have extra staff at stations to assist customers and provide information and we are providing regular updates for passengers through our website and our Twitter feed. We would urge passengers to check for service updates before leaving for the station.’
