Diving into Mary Rose history
Youngsters have been learning what it's like to be an underwater archaeologist at Portsmouth's Mary Rose Museum.
The museum, at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, is inviting children to try 'Diving into History', with an interactive exhibition.
Sue Judge, museum services manager, said: 'It's part of the Festival of British Archaeology, and includes activities such as digging treasure from under sand, a "feely-box", with replicas of items found on the Mary Rose, such as coins, spoons and clay pipes, which youngsters have to feel then draw, and trowels and toothbrushes to dig up and clean off items like an archaeologist.
'It's been really popular.'
The exhibition, open until Thursday, is free to youngsters with a Young Archaeologist Club pass, and to anyone with a museum pass. It's open from 11am to 12pm, and 2pm to 4pm.
