Drink-driver caught while twice legal limit

A DRINK-DRIVER caught behind the wheel while twice the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the roads.

Scott Hobbs, from Leesland Road, Gosport, pleaded guilty to committing the offence while he was driving in Whitworth Road, Gosport, on August 8.

A breath test revealed that the 45-year-old’s breath contained 97 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres.

The legal limit is 35mcg.

Hobbs was ordered to pay £60 to a fund for victims of crime at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

He was told to pay £85 in court costs and banned from driving for two years.

The driving ban could be reduced by six months.

However, Hobbs would first have to pay up to £250 and successfully complete a course approved by the secretary of state. No order for costs was made.
