Driver taken to hospital

ONE of Portsmouth’s busiest routes was closed for about 40 minutes after two cars were involved in a crash.

Police shut the section of London Road, North End, from the Stubbington Avenue roundabout to Derby Road at about 7.20pm yesterday.

A Vauxhall and a Volkwagen were in collision and a 35-year-old man in the Vauxhall was cut out of the car by firefighters as he was complaining of back pain. He was removed on a spinal board and taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital.

A diversion was set up until police re-opened the road at about 8pm.
