560-step Spinnaker challenge

PEOPLE who want to put their endurance to the test are being invited to take part in a race up the 560 steps of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.

St Dunstan's, a national charity that provides lifelong support and rehabilitation to blind ex-servicemen and women, is calling on people to sign up to the Spinnaker Tower Challenge, which takes place at 7pm on October 14.

Those taking part will include service personnel based at HMS Sultan, Gosport, and Royal Engineers serving with 39 Engineer Regiment, Cambridge.

People must pay a registration fee of 18 and pledge to raise a minimum of 100 in sponsorship.

Denise Yeats, St Dunstan's community and events fundraising manager, said: 'I would urge everybody to get involved, either as a participant or by sponsoring others to take part.

'You can enjoy yourself while knowing that you are helping St Dunstan's to reach out to more people in need of specialist assistance.'

St Dunstan's was established in 1915 and provides lifelong support and rehabilitation to blind ex-servicemen and women.

It supports anyone who has served in the forces and has lost their sight due to war, age, accident or illness and the charity's duty of care extends to all St Dunstaners and their families for life.
