Medics of the future...

Science pupils received an insight into potential health careers at a special event.

More than 100 year 10 pupils from across the area attended the Step into Science and Healthcare event at St James' Hospital in Milton, Portsmouth.

It showed how science can be applied to life after school, and offered information and demonstrations from a range of healthcare professions such as cardiology, maternity services and clinical engineering.

Hannah Mahoney, 14, from Priory School in Portsmouth, said: 'I came to this event thinking I wanted to be a GP, but after seeing so many different jobs I am really interested in finding out more about midwifery.'

The annual event was organised by Portsmouth's Education Business Partnership, Aim Higher and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
