Miss Portsmouth impresses with her brains as well as beauty

Miss Portsmouth inspired schoolgirls to think that you can have beauty as well as brains at an enterprise day.

Sarah Archer, 17, of Eastney, helped pupils with their projects at City of Portsmouth Girls' School, including organising a family day out in the city and creating souvenirs linked to the London Olympics of 2012.

The Portsmouth College student has only just been crowned Miss Portsmouth and is in the final for Miss England which will be decided in a two-day event in July.

Her long-term ambition is to be a doctor, which impressed the Year 9 pupils at City Girls.

The day's organiser, Jess Pemberton-James, from Portsmouth Education Business Partnership, said: 'I overheard some of the girls saying how Sarah is really pretty but she wants to be a doctor.

'That's the reaction we hoped for.

'We wanted to show it's not all about strutting your stuff but you've got to have brains as well.'
