TRAFFIC was brought to a standstill on a major Portsmouth road after a four-vehicle crash.
Police say a Jaguar car crossed the central reservation on Eastern Road and blocked the carriageway.
It is not yet known which direction the Jaguar was travelling. Two people were hurt in the crash.
PPolice shut the Eastern Road to traffic while they worked at the scene.
The roundabout near Farlington which links Eastern Road to the A27 was also shut in order to enable the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to land safely.
A Suzuki Alto, a Porsche Carrera and a Mitsibushi Lancer were also involved in the incident, which happened shortly before 11.30am today.
Police said crews from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene to remove the roof from the Alto in order to get a person travelling in the vehicle out.
The road was reopened at lunchtime.
Many people caught up in the queues took to Twitter to express their frustration. A user called Stuart with the handle @pompeyblue1980 said: ‘Eastern road closed equals traffic madness in #pompey car on fire.’
