Lib Dem hold

Cheryl Buggy, Liberal Democrat: 1,559

Gerry Oldfield, Conservative: 1,545

Geoff Wade, Labour and Co-operative Party: 220

Turnout: 36.4%

New kid on the block Cheryl Buggy narrowly beat Tory candidate Gerry Oldfield by just 14 votes after independent councillor Anthony Marton stepped down.

The hotly-contested ward was one which could have tipped the council in the Tories' favour if they had won.

Tory leader Steve Wemyss said: 'We would have liked to have a few more wins in the south of the city so we could have taken overall control.'
