FA Cup gets a 'pizza' the action at event
A RESTAURANT has held an FA Cup-themed charity event which it hopes will raise more than £2,500 for a local charity.
More than 100 people attended the charity dinner at The Pizza House on Wednesday night, paying 29.95 for a three-course meal and the chance to get a last glimpse of the guest of honour – the FA Cup itself.
They also bid for football-related memorabilia, meaning the total raised on the night was 2,300.
But the Hilsea restaurant will keep collecting money, to donate to Rowans Hospice, until Sunday night, and hopes the total will top 2,500.
General manager Christian Mascia said: 'It was a great event for a great cause.
'We were delighted with all the interest, as we had to turn people away on Wednesday morning when tickets were sold out.
'We would like to thank everyone for their generosity too and hope we can raise even more this weekend.'
The FA Cup, which returned to London yesterday, was brought to the restaurant by Pompey chairman Peter Storrie.
