A FAREHAM man who was found guilty of a murder more than 30 years has been jailed for life.
Paul Taylor, of Valentine Close, has been sentenced to life in jail, with a minimum of 18 years, for the brutal murder of Sally McGrath.
The 60-year-old was given separate 16-year sentences for two counts of rape and a serious sexual assault on a 20-year-old woman; 14 years for the rape of a 17-year-old girl and nine years for the attempted rape of a 24-year-old woman.
The former soldier was charged with the killing of 22-year-old Miss McGrath after a cold case review by Cambridgeshire Constabulary which started in 2010.
Her body had been discovered in a shallow grave in woodland at Castor Hanglands, Cambridgeshire, in March 1980, but her killer had not been identified until a successful review of the case by Cambridgeshire detectives.
Miss McGrath was last seen alive on 11 July 1979 at a Peterborough hotel with Taylor, Chelmsford Crown Court heard
The jury found Taylor guilty of murder yesterday following an eight-week trial.
Taylor moved from Peterborough to Fareham in the 1980s.
