Feeders to help birds through the winter

DOZENS of bird feeders have been built at a community event at the Milton allotments.

A group from the Green Neighbours project made the feeders from sustainable materials in order to help birds through the cold winter months.

Kelly Martin, environment officer at Portsmouth City Council, said: ‘Everybody had a great time creating the bird feeders. Not only does it help the birds facing such a scarcity of food during the winter months, it also creates a great sense of community spirit in those taking part.

‘The Green Neighbours project is really catching on and residents are enjoying learning about reducing energy and waste, and living more sustainable lifestyles.’
