Feeling hot, hot, hot

Around 50 people took off their shoes and socks and walked over hot coals in Guildhall Square, Portsmouth last night to raise money for charity.

The brave fundraisers were looking to raise funds for the Jubilee Sailing Trust and Wessex Cancer Trust.

After getting a run down on how best to tackle the 12 feet of hot coals to make it to the finish line, the group took it in turns while footage of the event was beamed out across the square from the giant screen.

Miriam McLean, 31, of Pretoria Road, Southsea, was raising money for the Wessex Cancer Trust. She said: 'It was hot, hot, hot! I did abseiling once for charity but this was much more scary.

'It was a bit like walking over really hot sand – but worse.

'I have a little blister from it but it was great and I'd do it again.'
