Festive mood as Blue army goes on tour
Pompey fans were in jubilant mood earlier in the day as they prepared for the match against VFL Wolfsburg.
As German shoppers wandered around the Christmas markets in Hanover city centre, Pompey fans bellowed out Play Up Pompey as they warmed up for the game by drinking beer.
The fans were busy soaking up some festive spirit in the run-up to the Uefa cup tie.
The wet weather had little affect on their mood as they filled themselves up on German bratwurst sausages.
Anna Pordage, 43, from Chichester, said: 'We absolutely love the half-metre sausages.
'I still can't believe I'm in Europe to watch Pompey.
'It's a great atmosphere here and the people are lovely.'
Peter Phillips, 56, also from Chichester, said: 'Pompey have taken over Hanover. Pompey in Europe – we are going to enjoy it while it lasts.'
The fans were in party mood before they made their way from Hanover to Wolfsburg via coaches, while many also chose to travel from Hanover to Wolfsburg by train, to get to the ground early.
