Fire breaks out in Royal Navy sauna
A fire broke out at a sauna in a Royal Navy building in Portsmouth.
Firefighters were called to the training school at HMS Temeraire in Burnaby Road just after 10am on Saturday.
The school, which is used to train the Royal Navy's physical training instructors, includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool and an electric sauna.
When one of the lifeguards switched on the sauna in the morning he heard a fizzing sound from the wiring and the fire began.
The swimming pool and changing rooms were evacuated while the firefighters got to work putting the fire out.
Rob Dellow, watch manager at Southsea fire station, said: 'It was a reasonably serious fire.
'It caused a fair bit of damage to the swimming pool area and the sauna.
'The area is a two-storey space, as it has a section for spectators.
'So that all got filled up with smoke pretty quickly.'
It's believed the fire was caused by the electrical wiring.
Two crews from Southsea fire station attended the blaze along with the special equipment unit from Cosham fire station.
The fire crews spent about three quarters of an hour using specialist fans to clear the smoke from the building.
They were finished by 11.30am.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
