Firefighters rescue man from blaze in block of Portsmouth flats
FIREFIGHTERS rescued a man from a burning block of flats this morning.
Five fire crews from Southsea and Cosham were called to Windsor House, in Canal Walk, Landport, at 8.45am today to reports of a fire in the lounge of a flat.
A total of 26 firefighters worked to put the fire out.
One man was rescued from the flat and taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham with suspected smoke inhalation.
None of his neighbours were evacuated because the fire was small.
The fire was out by 9.42am.

Sunday, February 12, 2012 at 04:13 AMI hope the chap recovers soon, very sorry to hear about the birds, they were very pleasant neighbours. I have been resident of Windsor House for 2 years now, unable to live in peace due to successive waves of anti social residents moving in and turning what was a pleasant enough block into a toilet. The building is (it seems to me) descending in ever decreasing circles as, as floods, fires, alcohol abuse and narcotics dealing drives out the few last few tenants who are not behaving anti-socially. The landlords and flat owners are unwilling to invest in maintenance of the shared spaces, and why should they? Consequently the whole place stinks of mildew (from all the damp of multiple floods (fires etc)) and urine, and any hope of replacing the anti social with good tenants is lost the moment they open the front door.
