Flights of fancy worth every penny

AN AVID Pompey fan has spent £15,000 flying from America to watch his beloved team.

Steve Hooper, 51, paid 3,000 to travel from Florida to watch Harry's boys in the FA Cup semi-final and final.

But the cash is just the latest expense for Cosham-born Mr Hooper, who has clocked-up tens of thousands of miles coming to see eight games since he moved to the US 20 years ago.

And after seeing his team lift the FA Cup at Wembley, he's going to keep spending.

'The final was incredible, I've been a Pompey fan for 40 years and this is something I never thought I'd get to see,' he said. 'It's a lot of money that I spent, but it's worth every penny, it really is.

'After coming over for the final I'm definitely going to carry on coming back for more games, and I'd like to see them play at least one game in Europe.'
