A TEAM from Southern Water took time out from building a pumping station to spruce up a school’s garden.

Southern Water and contractor 4Delivery are building the pumping station in Stamshaw Park as part of a £20m scheme to reduce sewer flooding in Portsmouth.

The Harbour School
@Stamshaw is next to the construction site and the project team helped to cut back grass and build pathways, borders and a vegetable patch, as well as lay new turf.

Subcontractor McHugh’s donated money for start-up plants and seeds.

The garden was opened by Lord Mayor Councillor Lynne Stagg, who presented the children with a gardening book.

Lynn Power, school manager, said: ‘You can’t imagine the difference this will make to the pupils.’
