Four-figure sum for cancer trust
A charity auction and meal at a Portmouth Pizza restaurant has raised more than £2,100 for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.
The Pizza House, London Road, Hilsea, auctioned off Pompey memorabilia and gave all its profit from a two-course meal to the charity.
And restaurant owner Giuseppe Mascia sold his last two FA Cup Final tickets for 200 - and gave the money to the fund.
He said: 'It was fantastic, I'm so pleased.
'We had 75 people in the end, and I expected it to be more, but we raised over 2,000.'
Mr Mascia's restaurant has always been a firm favourite with both Pompey players and bosses alike, leading him to dine in the director's box at Fratton Park and forge good links with the club.
But he said he would have to miss the match at Wembley in order to be at his restaurant to work, so sold his last two tickets.
'I wanted to get it over the 2,000 mark, and when I counted the money up last night we'd got 2,100.
'Everybody enjoyed the night, all the customers.
'All the service charges went to the charity, and all of the profit.'
Mr Mascia says he's already thinking about a similar event next year.
He added: 'I want to make it more high class, have champagne, give 20 a head to the charity, rather than just 10.
