Free advice on offer for families to get cycling

FAMILIES can get free cycling advice in Portsmouth's Victoria Park this weekend.

Professional guides are now available at the park every Sunday from 10am to 1pm to give advice on everything from safety to new routes and free bike checks.

Jayne Rodgers, sustainable transport officer at Portsmouth City Council, said: 'Cycling with your family is a great way of spending time together and helping everyone to be active and look after their health.

'All you have to do is turn up and we can give you tips on getting started, or iron out any problems you might have. We can even teach children to cycle. Even if you don't have a bike, you can find out how to recycle one for free and get cycling.'

Cycle Sundays are part of the Healthy Pompey scheme, which is part of the national Change4Life campaign which promotes healthy eating and active lifestyles. It government-funded and run by the council and Portsmouth NHS.
