Gallery: Something weird and wonderful for charity
WHETHER it was eating pigs' trotters or dressing up as a celebrity for the day – people across the area did something weird and wonderful to raise money for Children In Need.
Schools, nurseries, offices and pubs were among those pulling together and getting in on the fun to help raise money for the appeal.
Richard Turner, tax manager of Menzies accountants in Kingston Crescent, North End, Portsmouth, was blindfolded for his 'bush tucker challenge' and had no idea what was going in his mouth.
He ended up scoffing a range of 'treats' including jellied eels, cockles, tripe, baby food, pig trotters, egg yolk and chocolate coated chilli.
Afterwards he told The News: 'It was a horrible, up there with the worst experiences I have ever had. I'm relieved it is over!'
Youngsters at Mary Rose School in Gisors Road, Milton, did their bit by dressing up as their favourite celebrity for the day.
At Highbury College fantastic fairytale characters greeted customers at the college's Eden Hair and Beauty Salon as students took part in a day of fundraising.
There was also great excitement at Southern Electric's offices in Penner Road, Havant, when Pudsey Bear arrived to help kick off their Children In Need activities.
Pudsey helped sell cakes from the staff's charity cake stall while a brilliantly-made Pudsey cake was raffled, making 200.
