Gary weds sweetheart from schooldays

Saturdays have been pretty tense for Pompey star Gary O'Neil over the past few months as he helped the team fight its way out of the relegation zone.

But today he will be all smiles as he weds his childhood sweetheart Donna Guerin.

The pair, both 22, have been a couple for nine years and have known each other for most of their lives.

But today the Premiership's newest bride and groom vowed they had no desire to be the next Posh and Becks.

Gary said: 'We're quite private people and while football does bring you some attention we keep ourselves to ourselves.'

Gary and Donna were born at the same hospital within two days of each other in 1983 and later became good friends while attending the same secondary school in Bromley, Kent.

Two years later Gary plucked up the courage to ask Donna out and the couple never looked back.

The midfielder said: 'Some of the lads at the club do take the mick a bit because we got together when we were at school, but it's nothing I can't handle.'

The happy couple are being joined by 110 guests, including a few of Gary's team mates, at Highclere Castle in Newbury, Berkshire, for the ceremony and reception today.
